Nostalgic attractions to complement Gold Cup’s bank holiday historic racing

Tuesday, August 16, 2016

There will be plenty of attractions for Oulton Park Gold Cup visitors to enjoy on Bank Holiday Weekend (27-29 August) all of which will contribute to the old-school theme alongside the Historic Sports Car Club’s race programme.

More than 1000 classic vehicles are expected to be displayed within the circuit’s picturesque surround this year, including favourites from iconic British manufacturers such as Jaguar, MG, Mini, and Morgan. These displays are enormously popular with both the car-owners and other event attendees and there are new gems to look out for each year. If you are interested in displaying your car at the event, please click here for more information.

This year’s edition will also feature a celebration of historic American-style motor racing with the BriSCA Heritage Stock Cars, which will recreate the early years of stock car racing on the infield rally circuit.

Other highlights will include live music from the 1940s-inspired Belladonna Brigade and a WWII military camp display which will recall the venue’s past as a US Army staging cap – General Patton was based there prior to the Normandy landings.

There will be opportunities to get out on the circuit for a guided vintage bus tour too on Sunday morning and those of you seeking more of an adrenaline rush can book a Toyota GT86 rally ride on the day for £25. Click here to book your vintage bus tour in advance now.

Plus, there will be artisan market stalls, a free pit walk on Sunday and Monday, and plenty to entertain the little ones.

Discounted tickets for the Oulton Park Gold Cup are available in advance from £19 with free entry for under-13s. For more information, please call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
