Oulton Park’s past will be recreated in more ways than one at the Historic Gold Cup this August Bank Holiday Weekend (26-28 August), including its time as a World War II US Army staging camp with major displays within the circuit’s infield area.
Large numbers of military display vehicles will be displayed within the venue this year in what has become an enormously popular part of the Gold Cup’s off-track appeal. This year’s military-flavoured content will be richer and deeper than ever before, with a greater selection of vehicles and characters appearing.
The machinery on show will include army Jeeps, weapon-carriers, ambulances, and motorcycles from both the Allied and German sides of the conflict. Exciting fresh additions to the line-up will include a stunning Messerschmitt 109, which will make its Gold Cup debut.
There will be an American Civil War living diorama this year too, featuring a campsite full of full costume characters that will be on site across the weekend.
Other interactive characters appearing will include full costume Winston Churchill and Field Marshal Montgomery. Plus, there will be countless other soldiers and military personnel to provide some cracking photo opportunities.
This will be just one element of a multi-faceted off-track show at this year’s Gold Cup which will also feature classic car displays, rally rides, and artisan market stalls.
