Oulton Park will be abuzz with activity throughout today (Monday) as the Historic Gold Cup provides a full day’s historic racing on the International circuit with highlights including everything from ‘60s Grand Prix cars to ’90s Super Touring Cars. Tickets are available on the gate for £24 with free entry for under-13s.
The Historic Gold Cup itself will be awarded to the aggregate winner of the Historic Grand Prix Car Association races for classic F1 machines from Lotus, Cooper, and BRM, similar to those that contested earlier editions of the Gold Cup.
The Super Touring Cars are expected to put on an epic show with wheel-to-wheel dices featuring period British Touring Car Champion John Cleland and others in manufacturer built saloon cars from Vauxhall, BMW, Renault, and countless other manufacturers. Older Lotus Cortina and Hillman Imp saloon cars are expected to star too in the Historic Touring Car races.
Other single-seater highlights will include ferocious Historic Formula Ford battles, and the Derek Bell Trophy for powerful 1970s single-seaters including Formula 5000 cars.
