The Oulton Park Gold Cup will host a truly special selection of cars on August Bank Holiday Sunday (27 August) with the Cheshire Concours d’Esprit, which will celebrate the spirit of special sports cars.
The competition will be contested by 50 special sports cars from some of the world’s greatest manufacturers, all of which will be at their exquisite best for a visit to the Cheshire circuit. The cars will appear in a special display area within the picturesque Cascades section of the track, where they will be judged in pre and post war classes as well as for an overall winner.
Each class winner will receive a specially commissioned Cheshire Cat trophy. The overall winner will be selected from the class winners and receive the Cheshire d’Espirit Trophy, which takes inspiration from the county’s Roman heritage.
South Cheshire Raiders founder and concours organizer, Tim Gresty, commented: “Our Concours d’Esprit is a truly extraordinary collection of inspiring sports-cars, each well-used and with a fascinating story to tell. They are not selected because they are regularly polished, or kept in an isolated cocoon. Every one is a character, worthy of the description; spirited.”
This will be one part of a busy off-track programme at the Gold Cup this year, including other more extensive classic car displays. This will create a fantastic retro backdrop to complement a nostalgic on-track programme of historic single-seater, GT, and touring car racing.
